Drop'n'See Privacy Policy

Last modified: June 19, 2025

Introduction

Drop'n'See ("we") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through this policy. The policy describes how we collect, use, maintain, protect, and disclose information when you install, access, or use the Drop'n'See application (the "Application").

This policy applies only to information we collect in or in connection with the Application.

This policy does not apply to information that:

  • You provide to, or is collected by, any third party.

These third parties have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read before providing information on or through them.

Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, do not download, register with, or use the Application. By doing so, you agree to this privacy policy. This policy may change from time to time. Your continued use of the Application after we revise the policy means you accept those changes, so please check periodically for updates.

Children Under the Age of 14

The Application is not intended for children under 14 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 14 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have information from or about a child under 14, please contact us at report-abuse@dropnsee.com.

Information We Collect

We collect information from and about users of our Application:

  • Directly from you when you provide it to us.
  • Automatically when you use the Application.

Information You Provide to Us

When you download, register with, or use the Application, we may ask you to provide information:

  • By which you may be personally identified, such as name and email address ("personal information").
  • Demographic information that may include your gender and date of birth.
  • That relates to you but does not individually identify you.

This information includes:

  • Information that you provide by filling in forms in the Application. This includes information provided at the time of registering to use the Application, posting material, or requesting further services.
  • Records and copies of your correspondence (including email addresses and phone numbers) if you contact us.

You may also provide information for publication or display ("User Contributions") on public areas of the Application. Your User Contributions are posted and transmitted to others at your own risk. Although you may set certain privacy settings by logging into your account profile, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. Additionally, we cannot control the actions of third parties with whom you may choose to share your User Contributions. We therefore cannot and do not guarantee that your User Contributions will not be viewed by unauthorized persons.

Automatic Information Collection

When you download, access, and use the Application, it may use technology to automatically collect:

  • Usage Details: We may automatically collect certain details of your access to and use of the Application, including location data, communication data, and the resources that you access and use on or through the Application.
  • Device Information: We may collect information about your mobile device and internet connection, including the device's unique identifier, operating system, browser type, mobile network information, and the device's telephone number.
  • Stored Information and Files: The Application may access metadata and other information associated with files stored on your device, such as photographs, audio and video clips, personal contacts, and address book information.
  • Push Notification Engagement: When you open a promotional notification we sent, we record that open event and the associated campaign so we can show businesses aggregated engagement metrics.
  • Location Information:

When you use location-driven features—checking in, posting drops, viewing nearby offers—we request your device's precise GPS signal at that moment so we can confirm you are close to the place you selected, attach location metadata to your content, and surface contextual promotions.

Drop'n'See validates distance on your device before it lets you check in or share a drop. Because of that design, location access must remain enabled; if you deny permission, you will not be able to see nearby places, claim coupons, or create location-locked content.

There is no in-app toggle for location collection. If you do not want Drop'n'See to access your location, use your device's privacy settings to revoke permission. Location features will stop working until you re-enable access.

Location data tied to your check-ins and drops remains in your account until you delete the related content or close your account.

Information Collection Technologies

The technologies we use for automatic information collection may include:

  • Cookies (or mobile cookies): A cookie is a small file placed on your smartphone. You may refuse to accept mobile cookies by activating the appropriate setting on your smartphone. However, doing so may prevent you from accessing certain parts of our Application.

How We Use Your Information

We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us, including any personal information, to:

  • Provide you with the Application and its contents, and any other information, products, or services you request.
  • Fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it.
  • Carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from any contracts between you and us, including for billing and collection.
  • Notify you when Application updates are available, and of changes to any products or services we offer or provide.
  • Maintain your check-in history and location-locked drops so you can revisit places, and keep those records synchronized across your devices.

The usage information we collect helps us improve our Application and deliver a better, more personalized experience by enabling us to:

  • Estimate our audience size and usage patterns.
  • Store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize the Application to your interests.
  • Speed up your searches.
  • Recognize you when you use the Application.

We use location information to:

  • Enable check-ins at nearby places.
  • Display relevant places and businesses near you.
  • Show you drops from other users at your location.
  • Tag your photos and videos with location data.
  • Verify proximity for coupon redemption.
  • Maintain an activity record of where you have checked in so you can revisit places and keep your location-locked drops in sync across devices.

Location data retention:

  • Real-time location: Collected only while the app is active, not stored.
  • Check-in history: Retained until account deletion.
  • Drop locations: Permanently associated with the related content.
  • Place visit patterns: Aggregated for analytics.

Location disclaimers:

  • GPS accuracy can vary based on device, weather, and buildings.
  • Do not trespass on private property to reach check-in locations.
  • Do not use the Application while driving or in dangerous situations.
  • Location features require an active internet connection.
  • We are not responsible for injuries related to visiting locations.

Disclosure of Your Information

We may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual or device, without restriction.

In addition, we may disclose personal information that we collect or you provide:

  • To our subsidiaries and affiliates.
  • To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business, and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
  • To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it.
  • For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.
  • With your consent.
  • To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including responding to any government or regulatory request.
  • To enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including the Application Terms of Use.
  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of our customers or others.

When you interact with businesses in Drop'n'See (for example, by checking in, following a place, or claiming a coupon), we share anonymized, aggregated analytics with those businesses—such as overall check-in counts, coupon redemption rates, and notification open rates—to help them measure performance. We never disclose your individual identity or device information in those reports.

Service Providers

We rely on a small group of third-party processors to operate Drop'n'See. They only process your data so we can deliver the features you request, and they are bound by contractual confidentiality and security obligations.

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): Hosts our infrastructure. We use Amazon Cognito for authentication, Amazon RDS (PostgreSQL) for our primary database, Amazon S3 to store drop photos, profile images, and coupon artwork, and Amazon CloudFront to deliver media securely. AWS Location Service powers nearby-place lookups. As a result, AWS stores account information, check-in history, media content, and other operational data on our behalf.
  • Expo Push Notification Service: Delivers push notifications to your device. We share your Expo push token, device type, optional app version, and the notification payload (for example, the title and body of a coupon alert) so the message can be delivered.
  • Sentry (Sentry.io): Provides crash and performance monitoring for the mobile app. When an unexpected error occurs, we send Sentry the error details along with your Drop'n'See user ID, email, and username (if available) so we can diagnose the issue.

We do not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers.

Your Choices

We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide. This section describes the mechanisms we provide to control certain uses and disclosures of your information.

  • Tracking technologies: You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies or block the use of other tracking technologies, some parts of the Application may be inaccessible or not function properly.
  • Location information: You can choose whether or not to allow the Application to collect and use real-time information about your device's location through the device's privacy settings. If you block the use of location information, some parts of the Application may be inaccessible or not function properly.

Accessing and Correcting Your Personal Information

You can review and change your personal information by logging into the Application and visiting your account profile page.

You may also send us an email at privacy@dropnsee.com to request access to, correct, or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. We cannot delete your personal information except by also deleting your user account. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

If you delete your User Contributions from the Application, copies of your User Contributions may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or might have been copied or stored by other users. Proper access and use of information provided on the Application, including User Contributions, is governed by our Terms of Use.

Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, California law may provide you with additional rights regarding our use of your personal information.

California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code Section 1798.83) permits users of our Application who are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please send an email to privacy@dropnsee.com.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Account Settings screen. Once you confirm deletion, we immediately remove your profile, check-in history, drops, coupons, saved places, followed places, and device tokens from our production systems. Copies that exist in automated backups are overwritten on their normal rotation schedule and are not used for any active processing.

Aggregated metrics that businesses rely on (for example, total check-ins or redemption rates) may remain, but they are no longer linked to your identity. If you need assistance with a deletion request, email privacy@dropnsee.com.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may update our privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes to how we treat our users' personal information, we will post the new privacy policy on this page with a notice that it has been updated.

The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page. You are responsible for ensuring we have an up-to-date, active, and deliverable email address for you, and for periodically visiting this privacy policy to check for any changes.
